1. Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se hosted a dinner on August 31 in Honolulu, the US, for Commander of US Pacific Command Admiral Harry Harris, Commander of US Pacific Fleet Admiral Scott Swift, and Commander of US Marine Corps Forces Pacific Lieutenant General John Toolan. At the dinner, Minister Yun commended and extended encouragement to the commanders of US Pacific Command (PACOM), which, based on the firm ROK-US allied defense posture, contributed to maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula in the process of responding to the recent landmine and artillery provocations by North Korea.

2. Minister Yun and the commanders of US Pacific Command also had extensive discussions on the US military security strategies on the Korean Peninsula and in the Asia-Pacific region for maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

3. Minister Yun stressed that President Park Geun-hye’s upcoming visit to the US in October will serve as an opportunity to further deepen and develop the comprehensive strategic alliance between the ROK and the US.
